Bose 131

$299.00 Released March, 2006

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Designed to be blind-mounted for easier installation. Well thought out waterproof design--several drain holes around the unit allow it to stay dry in any position. Unique visual aesthetic--honeycomb grill looks cool, stands out from the standard speaker design.

The Cons:Speaker covers don't fit snugly with the speakers, can be removed far too easily. Odd shape doesn't fit as well in some areas as speakers with a more standard shape. Very pricey compared to similar competing outdoor speaker sets.

The Bose 131 is a low-mid priced outdoor speaker system geared specifically for mounting in boats. These speakers are specifically designed to be mounted in the pre-cut speaker openings provided by many boat manufacturers (w/ connection to your on-board stereo), and the encasing is designed for marine mounting.

Like the other outdoor speaker systems from Bose, the 131 is both weather and water resistant. The full-range driver built in to the system helps to make the frequency range more diverse. Bose's characteristic focus on low frequencies is present here, as the ported enclosure helps the speakers maintain a consistent bass, even when the environment is less than ideal.
