The Leica M7 is a 2004 camera designed for professional photographers and comes loaded with features and configurations because of that. The camera uses a aperture priority mode with exposure lock via the shutter release that lets the consumer focus easily and compose quickly.

The Leica M7 has a TTL flash exposure measurement to reduce the risk of flash photography, as well as flash synchronization at the second shutter curtain. For photography with long exposure times the viewfinder display is provided. The camera has a choice of either manual or automatic film speed settings which reduces the risk of exposure errors due to wrong ISO settings. Like all cameras in the Leica M series, the Leica M7 can use any lens created for the M series back to the 1960s when it was first launched.
