The Olympus S713 — also known as the Pearlcoder S713 — is Olympus’s top cassette recorder. It features a variable control voice actuator for hands-free recording; it activates recording as soon as the microphone senses sound.

And it offers dual tape speeds for up to three hours of recording on a conventional 90-minute tape. Included also is a built-in microphone that clearly captures audio; a built-in speaker for playback anytime and anywhere; and external jacks for connecting an earphone, a secondary microphone, or an external power supply. In fact, users can either power the unit by an AC outlet OR with two AA batteries. One of the more notable features of the S713 is its tape counter, which lets users quickly locate previously-recorded passages. There’s also a cue/review function for fast, easy message monitoring/correcting.
