Aesthetically, the SIR-TS160 features a sleek silver design and lacks a front-panel display. However, control buttons are still accessible from the front via a flip-down door. This receiver has no fans inside the case, allowing the device operate quietly. The maximum resolution is set at 1080i, however 720p, 480p and 480i modes are also available. Software features of the Samsung SIR-TS160 include DirecTV’s 7-day Advanced Program Guide and Guided Search by actor names, movies and other categories. A picture-in-picture window allows television viewers to watch programming while browsing menus, while Samsung’s Quick Guide will display listings by 30-minute time-slots, all in an opaque overlay.
