Sirius S50

$150.00 Released March, 2006

Product Shot 1The Sirius S50 was released in 2006 as one of the first portable satellite players of its kind. It allows users to tune into live channels when connected to a Car Kit or Home Kit dock. Otherwise, while on-the-go, users are limited to listening to any programs and songs recorded in the 1GB of onboard storage space.

It hosts a compact and lightweight design for easy portability, a glossy black display known to collect fingerprints, and a small 176x220 resolution for displaying minimal info like channel/song data. Thankfully the system comes bundled with a car kit, in which it uses an FM transmitter to submit signals to the vehicle’s radio system. At the time of its released, the S50 was considered an optimal (and in fact the only) option for portable satellite radio. Nowadays there are a bevy of competitors that outperform it.
