The addition of the flash memory allows it to provide Hybrid Plus movie recording to either the flash memory, DVD, or Memory Stick Duo media for increased flexibility.  The DCR-DVD850 includes a professional Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar zoom lens for 60x optical and 2000x digital zoom and utilizes Sony's SteadyShot image stabilization to reduce blur.  It is designed with a 2.7" touch LCD screen that rotates up to 270 degrees for multiple viewing angles and has a 1/8" advanced HAD CCD imager for crisp video and still images.  The camcorder also utilizes Dolby Digital 5.1 channel recording and has a built-in zoom microphone to add realistic sound to the footage.  The DCR-DVD850 differs from it's predecessor, the DCR-DVD810, since it has a more powerful zoom lens and double the amount of flash memory.
